We are here in Resistencia. We arrived on Thursday. I learned you are really the Mission President when the outgoing one hands you his cellphone and you take the first call!
We have been getting settled in the past couple of days. Our home is spacious, especially just for the two of us. There is a lot to learn about it, for starters, which keys go to which doors! Our vehicle is nice--a Toyota HiLux 4x4 Diesel SUV (we don´t have them in the states) and we have ventured out and about a bit already.
Diane has been fielding health calls in Spanish. She went shopping in a supermercado already and has met several of the local church members. Whenever I turn around there seems to be a crowd of people around her...something I suspect will be the case for the next 3 years!
Tomorrow I begin interviewing missionaries, we are hosting a lunch at our home for local church leaders and then from Tuesday until Friday evening we are touring the eastern part of the mission to get to know the missionaries and leaders there. The next week we are doing the same for the western part of the mission.
We already met some people who worked with and fondly remember our son Chris when he was here. And so, after what seemed like forever and yet but a moment, we are here doing the work.
