Is There a Doctor in the House?

Actually, the answer is yes! Meet Doctor y Hermana Hollingsworth...the South America South Area Medical Advisor and his wife...

They are with us this week to tour medical facilities in the mission and check on some missionaries. What an incredible couple. This is their second mission as medical advisors. Their first was to Mexico and now here. Dr. Hollingsworth is on call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. And his wife is just as involved as he is! He works with missionaries in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay...mostly by phone and email. He has seen it all and heard even more. We have had a great time with them. Diane even came down with a cold just to let them know they are needed and loved!

So, here is my favorite part...they are just great, real people who love to serve others. Very kind, funny and gracious. This is what the healthy breakfast table looked like this morning at our home...a perfect training table for a doctor...juice, milk, fruit, banana bread and granola...

Now look again at this picture and notice that Hermana Hollingsworth has the granola, my bowl has Honey Nut Cheerios and Doctor Hollingsworth is digging into the Sugar Frosted Flakes (Zucaritas in Argentina)! How can you not love a doctor who has Sugar Frosted Flakes for breakfast? He's Grrrrrreat!!!

Yesterday they toured Resistencia, today Corrientes, tomorrow Formosa and Thursday Posadas. We are fortunate to have them here.

Random Photos

Here are a few "never before released to the public" photos that are worth sharing.

Diane, Leandro Curaba, Elder D. Todd Christofferson and me.

I think these two photos of our grandson, Reed, fall into the category of a "Spaghetti Western". Apologies to Clint Eastwood.

My mother kayaking off of Balboa Island this past Thanksgiving.

Diane and me, neckerchief fashionistas.

I think Diane liked the buffet breakfast as much as the waterfalls in Iguazu.

Diane playing Mark Mabry for the Carters.

A nice picture of Diane, me and 6 glasses of water! We are big fans of keeping hydrated during the summer months.

When we visited this family in Ibarreta, they showed us these pictures that our son, Chris had mounted and given them 10 years ago.

This one of the Buenos Aires Temple was hanging on their wall.

This one pretty much speaks for itself...

But this one needs an explanation. The sign, translated, says, "Dumping Garbage is Prohibited". It was the only place for kilometers and kilometers where any garbage was actually dumped. I think that donkey must have posted it there knowing that people don't take kindly to the government telling it where it can and can not dump its garbage!

I Hate Shopping!

But this was not shopping...this was pure sport.

Diane decided that each missionary was going to have some REAL candy in his or her Christmas package from us. So, it was off to Walmart. I worked in the office while she cleaned out the Walmart in Resistencia. After I finished in the office I took her to the Walmart in Corrientes. I have never seen anything like this in my life.

It started out innocently enough with a few dozen bags of Skittles and Twix bars.

Then, the fun began. Diane saw some Snickers.

But we have 200 hundred missionaries and how are you going to give some missionaries Snickers and not give them all Snickers? Diane just knew there had to be more...

So she dug...and that's when the competition began. She just knew they were hiding Snickers all around the store...behind the wine cooler (she found them)...

By each cash register...she found them...

Down different aisles...she found them. And the stash started adding up!

And up!

Until she was satisfied she had enough!

The dejected woman behind her in the line is trying to figure out how she is going to tell her children there will be no Snickers in the stockings this Christmas!

And the final score was...

That's a lot of money in any currency! And a lot of plastic bags...

I hope the people at Cadbury are learning a little lesson about not trying to trick this Mission President's wife by hiding their candy eggs this coming Easter season!

Who Needs The NBA?

The Regatas are beating the Obras early in the first quarter!

No, the announcers do not yell, "Gooooooooooooool" everytime someone scores a basket.

The Ox is in the Mire

There are somethings you only do on Sunday when the "Ox is in the mire".

This Sunday we were in Clorinda, Formosa for District Conference. Here is where I parked our Hi Lux...

Diane didn't like it. She thought it "blocked" the gate even though I said no one used the gate. So, while I was in a meeting, Diane moved the Hi Lux to this spot...

That's right, she sunk the Hi Lux!

In between meetings, all Diane said to me was, "Boy, are you going to be mad at me!"

If you know anything about Heyman body language, you know how I felt...

After the District Conference, the fun really started...

Here's how the Ox looked after it had been pulled from the mire..

Twenty years from now they will still be talking about this District Conference in Clorinda...but I don't think it will be about the messages we shared!

60% of Your Body is Made of Water

Unfortunately, it is all on the inside.

Forecast for the day: 85 degrees, 73% humidity, 0% chance of water in the house.

I told Diane not to worry, once on Survivorman, when he was out of water, I saw Les Stroud drink...oh, never mind.

71.11% of the Earth's Surface is Covered With Water

Not one drop of it came out of the faucets of our home today!

Seems the water was cut to a few parts of the city today, including ours. No notice, no problem. No idea when it will be turned on again.

That didn't stop Diane from feeding 21 missionaries dinner tonight. I have no idea how she did it. I suspect our inventory of bottled water is going to have to be restocked...but the mashed potatoes were worth it!
